John is a San Diego native who started his professional career with Bank of America. In 1977, he was transferred to Escondido as the Assistant Vice President-Operations Officer for all the local branches. This was after being assigned to branches in Hillcrest, Mission Village, East San Diego, Chula Vista, Coronado, National City and Vista. He was also assigned to Fort Ord, California, and Camp Casey, Korea, during his military service.
In July 1979 John and his wife Mary moved to Escondido and in November, he left the bank to become a Certified Public Accountant. The journey through CPA firms included auditing such cities as Chula Vista, Del Mar, National City and Santee; and working as the Accounting Supervisor for the City of Escondido. The career change was completed in 1985 when he became a Certified Public Accountant and a partner in the local public accounting firm of White, Burson and Trudell.
In 1989, he started the John W. Trudell Accountancy Corporation. John has recently added management consulting services under the name of JWT Management Solutions. This addition includes training in QuickBooks®, computerized accounting system installation and accounting follow-up.
His assistant Lyddi, who has been with John more than ten years, is involved in
all these activities. John has always described himself as "a consultant who is a CPA instead of a CPA that does consulting." He is well known for his personal attention by his clients and associates.
John and his wife Mary met in kindergarten at Our Lady of the Sacred Heart School in San Diego. They celebrated their thirtieth anniversary on July 18, 2000 and they share the same birthday of July 4th. They have two sons. Andrew is a college student and is in the Marine Corps Reserves
he aspires to be an executive chef someday. Chris is a College student and he aspires to be a chiropractor someday. Both have been involved in Little League, Soccer, Football and Volleyball. Dad retired from coaching after Chris' soccer team won the Super Soccer championship in 1995. Now John and Mary are just "parents". Besides their church activities, the family has also been involved with the YMCA, the Boys and Girls Club and the Boy Scouts for many years.
